Five-Aside Competition

Well done to the boys of football team. They were runners-up in the City 5-aside indoor football competition on Friday 5 May.

St.Eithne’s So Close!

 

St. Eithne’s were so close to winning the Derry and District Schools’ 5-Aside Cup last Friday but sadly it ended in disappointment.

 The team battled through the league stage of the competition and needed to win their last match to qualify for the semi finals. Amazingly, they lost to a battling Model team which then sent St Eithne’s into a nail-biting playoff against Rosemount PS. Ryan H scored the all important winner to send us through. The team was delighted.

They were now in the semi-finals against St.Pauls P.S. The team thought this was going to be a tough match and they were right but St.Eithne’s stuck to their game plan and came through with a 1-0 victory. Ryan H again with the winner.

St.Eithne’s P.S. were now in that dream final spot and were against Ebrington P.S.

St. Eithne’s took control of the final from the start and had a few chances but didn’t put them away. The match went into Golden Goal extra time and Ebrington got a disputed penalty and the dream died.

A disappointed Conor said, “It was never a penalty.”

Never mind boys there’s always next year.

League Progress 2005/2006

Last year St. Eithne's won both the cup and the league in the 'B Division'. This year we have been moved to the 'A Division'. New team new division we shall do what we can in this stronger group. Unfortunately most of our matches are away matches. But this will be a good test of character for our kids. (Photo below).
