Our Priorities This year 11/12

This year is the first year of our new 3 year "School Development Plan". Click above to see the Main Aims / targets for 2011/2012.
School Identified Development Areas (3 years)
  • Enhance the differentiation structure in all classes focusing on strategies to enable higher achievers attain their potential.
  •    Continue to further raise expectations of children’s achievements in both Literacy & Numeracy.
  • Add to Literacy & Numeracy teaching an interesting and fun element
               
1. Literacy;
  • Improve pupils' reading narrative skills;
  • Create appropriate linking reading activities making the reading lessons more meaningful and enhancing;
  • Extend Accelerated Reading program to all P.4 to 7 classes.

2. Numeracy

  • Achieve higher standards in pupils’ own Numeracy skills;
  • Build an interest and love for Maths ...
  • Use Accelerated Maths in P.4 to 7 classes as an intervention strategies to enhabnce performace.

3. ICT

  • Aim to achieve the Becta kite mark;
  • Review ICT assessment strategies to come into line with new ICT Capabilities promoted by CCEA;
  • "012/13 training for assessing "Using ICT".

4. Assessment

  • Assessand report on the skills of Communication and Using Mathematics by 2102/2103;
  • 2012/2013 training on assessing "Using ICT and asses & report on Using ICT in 2013/2014.

Including Talking and Listening, Reading and Writing.

Including Processes in Mathematics, Number, Measures, Shape and Space and Handling Data.

The Arts

Including Art and Design, Music and Drama.

The World Around Us

Including Interdependence, Place, Movement and Energy and Change Over Time.

Physical Education

Including Athletics, Dance, Games and Gymnastics.

Personal Development & Mutual Understanding

Including Personal Development and Health, and Mutual Understanding in the Local and Wider Community.

Religious Education

Religious beliefs, practices and values.


Teaching strategies used have moved away from a knowledge based learning to one where the acquisition of a huge variety of skills is more important. The skills gained should lead to wider learning experiences throughout the child's school life and beyond.
