School Identified Development Areas

1.Literacy

A whole school reorganisation of the “Daily Reading Strategies” structured to improve all pupils’ skills and capabilities.

Extend the Accelerated Reading Programme to P.5 & continue programme of improvement for P. 6 pupils.

2. Numeracy

Numeracy skills focusing on number bonds throughout the school to Multiplication and  TS & PC  structured weekly investigations.

Pilot Study on Accelerated Maths

Review & Adjust Numeracy Scheme.

3. ICT

 Year1 to 7  pupils to use of digital media in their work on animation, moving   images and working with different  image types and presentation;

A Review of the provision of all pupil’s ICT skills and capabilities will be carried out in 2010/11.

Continue to bulk out Term Frameworks focusing on giving children a larger involvement in practical work.

Assessment

Further develop Assessment tracking system to identify underachievers, understand trends and put in place strategies;

Use the data gathered to accurately assess how the school is performing in Literacy & Numeracy areas to inform SDP and improve pupils’ attainment levels in Literacy and Numeracy.

Pilot Study: CCEA Pilot(Cross-curricular Skills)

Early Years Play

 

Create & deliver Series of Lessons for Foundation Stage Outdoor Area.

 

P.E.

Develop & record progression for pupils’ skills in gymnastics.

Further develop lessons in Dance with the provision of training for staff.     

The World Around Us

Complete new investigative cross curricular approach to teaching and learning in the area of the world around us;

Renew Reviewed Main  Schemes

Literacy, Numeracy & WAU Schemes to be renewed  by September 2011. ICT frameworks   

Other
Develop the school playgrounds so that Key Stage 1 & 2 pupis can enjoy a more structured playtime with designated areas for football, basketball, athletics, skipping and free play. The play areas are to be relined and equipment renewed.
We shall be conducting a huge survey of the school community this year to analyse our development needs for the next three years. This means questionnires for parents, teachers, all staff members and of course pupils will be asked to contribute their thoughts to the process.
